The Highlands Fire Department and its members participate in a number of fire safety activities throughout the year aimed to encourage, motivate and educate the children and adults of our community.  The Fire Department wishes to recognize members of the community for their support of all the programs we participate in.

Fire Escape plan

Don't let this happen to you.  Be prepared. Start with smoke detectors, check them frequently.  Prepare a fire escape plan with your family; practice often.  Your fire escape plan should include a diagram of your home,  escape routes, a safe meeting place for all family members and  alternate escape routes.  Not all fires are the same so practice your alternate escape routes.

  • Fire Prevention, hosted annually at the local schools. Members of the Department volunteer their time and experiences to teach our youths how to stay safe when encountering a fire.  Stop, Drop, Cover your face and Roll is just one of the many topics discussed during Fire Prevention.

  • Career Day, this annual event allows the introduction of the Fire Service for young minds exploring ideas for future career opportunities.  Fire and Emergency Medical Technicians are on hand to explain what it takes to become a firefighter and/or EMT

  • Fill The Boot, Members volunteer their efforts to support MDA (Muscular Dystrophy Association) and fill-the-boot for Jerry's Kids.  During late August or early September, members will take to the streets and bear the summer heat for the kids.
